‘Recovered Stories. Queer in Lower Silesia’ exhibition

A unique exhibition presented at the Henry Tomaszewski Theatre Museum from 15 October to 30 November 2025.

Histories Recovered - or rather being recovered in various ways - is the process of reclaiming fragments of Lower Silesian history that have remained in the shadows for decades.

The exhibition tells the story of queer life between 1871 and 1990+, from persecution and silence, to the formation of communities, to the questioning of gender boundaries and the consolidation of queer memories. In this narrative, 1945 becomes both the end and the beginning of new queer stories - from the German past, to the memory of the Borderlands, to the experience of the 'new' communist reality.
